Rıza Gümbüşoğlu

Rıza Gümbüşoğlu is the founder and managing partner of Gümbüşoğlu Law Office.

​

He graduated from Istanbul University Institute of Justice and worked as a chief court clerk in Istanbul Courts of First Instance between 1981 and 1994. In this period, he also completed his undergrad studies in Istanbul University, Faculty of Law and subsequently he worked as a senior partner and the leader of dispute resolution and employment practice groups of one of the leading law firms of Turkey between 1994 and 2020.

He experienced practical aspects as well as theoretical aspects of law for 13 years where he worked as a chief court clerk. Subsequently, he practiced as an attorney at law for 26 years, further increased his skills and experience and became one of the prominent practitioners in his field.

With his extensive litigation and dispute management experience, Rıza advises and represents various local and international clients operating on sectors such as agriculture, fertilizers, seed production, pharmaceuticals and medical device, transportation, construction, real estate, tourism, media and advertising, textile, stationery and food on various fields of law including; commercial litigation and dispute resolution, employment, commercial and company law, real estate and construction law, enforcement and bankruptcy law, administrative and tax law, white collar crimes and consumer law.

He advised his clients on negotiation and drafting of all kinds of commercial agreements including distributorship, franchising, work, service, sale of goods, sale and lease of real estate, construction, partnership and insurance agreements and represented his clients in disputes arising from all kinds of commercial agreements as well as from tortious acts including unfair competition and on recognition and enforcement of foreign court judgements and arbitration awards. He also represented his clients in litigation arising from commercial crimes such as disclosure of trade secrets, fraud, embezzlement, bribery, forgery, money laundering and trademark infringement as well as cancellation and remedy actions in relation to administrative and tax law and customs disputes.

One of Rıza’s main areas of expertise is employment law. He advised his clients on reviewing and drafting companies’ internal rules and regulations, employment agreements, non-compete and confidentiality agreements, release and mutual termination agreements. He assisted his clients on all matters in relation to employment law including performance management, management of termination, collective redundancy, restructuring of workforce, transfer of business and collective bargaining processes and he contributed to peaceful settlement of a significant portion of employment disputes. Rıza also successfully represented his clients in employment litigation including reinstatement cases and claims regarding severance and notice payments, salary, overtime and annual leave payments, mobbing cases, compensation cases for loss of support due to workplace accidents, violation of non-compete and confidentiality obligations as well as recourse actions filed by Social Security Institution.

International law directories recognized Rıza’s competency and expertise and listed him among the leading practitioners in Turkey for many years. Recently The Legal500 recognized Rıza among “Leading Individuals” in labour law.
